I guess you could say that my ornaments are "baked fresh daily." I mix all of my dough by hand twice a day. I use a simple flour, salt and water recipe that you can find in any book or magazine. I use concentrated cake decorating food coloring and coco to color the brown dough.

I make each ornament individually, completely by hand. The only tools I use are a few old sculpting tools, some ancient leather crafting tools, and my very worn garlic presses, which I use to make the hair.

I bake all of my ornaments in my home ovens (I have 3), and I fire all of my ceramics in the kiln in my back yard. During my busy season, it is not unusual for all 3 ovens and my kiln to run up to 21 hours a day. And you thought that Gray Davis was responsible for the energy crisis in California!!

I "glaze" all the ornaments in my garage. I double coat each one with a heavy epoxy resin for maximum strength and durability. This is the messiest, stickiest part of the whole process.

MANY THANKS.....

To God, for blessing me with this strange and incredibly fun gift.

To my Mom and Dad (who passed away when I was just 18) for buying me all that clay and always encouraging me, and even moving over the Thanksgiving turkey to make room in the oven for ornaments.

To Mike for being so patient as you waded knee-deep in packing peanuts to the door for the pizza man day after day during the busy season.

To Brandi for helping me with the kids for hours and hours and for glazing and packing more ornaments than anyone else.

To our good old dog Butch who learned how to run full speed through a room filled with piles of ornaments without stepping on any at all.

To Andy and Matt for never putting ornaments in your mouth, choking on any small parts, and for learning how to use the pricing gun at such an early age.

To all of my family and friends who stayed up late helping me pack, glaze, price, work at shows, clean up my messes, and just chat with me while I worked.
